Spyware And Identity Theft Despite all your efforts to contain and manage the flow of personal

can use varied methods of identity theft spy ware to gain access to
your personal data.

institutions by
- Stealing information or personal records while on the job
- Bribing another employee who is able to access your records
- By hacking these records or
- By fooling other employees into imparting the information

1. Rob your mail, which includes your credit card offers, your tax
information, new checks, and credit card and bank statements.
2. Spy ware and identity theft could also see these unscrupulous
hackers rummaging through your trash, or public trash dumps or business
trash. This feature is commonly called “dumpster diving.”
3. These identity thieves could lay their hands on your credit
reports, and thereby illegally abuse their employer’s authorized
accesses to them. They could even pose as your landlord, or your
employer, or someone else appearing to have a legal claim to assess
your credit report.
4. Using the appropriate identity theft spy ware, such hackers
could rob your debit or your credit card numbers via a practice
called “skimming” whereby they capture the required
information in a data storing device. They could either swipe your
card to actually make a purchase, or they could alternately, attach
the device to an ATM machine, which you usually enter or swipe your
card.
5. They may simply rob your wallet or your purse.
6. They could complete a “change of address” form,
thereby diverting all of your mail to another location.
7. They may thieve any other personal information that they may
find in your home.
8. They may thieve personal information from you through email
- called “phishing”online - or the phone – called
“pretexting” by phone - by pretending to be calling
from legitimate companies who claim that you have a particular problem
with your account.

1. Get in touch with you credit card issuer to have the billing
address changed on your credit card account. The imposter would

6. They could even file for bankruptcy in your name so as to avoid
paying up debts incurred in your name, or to prevent eviction.
7. They may help themselves to an auto loan under your name, and
buy a car. They could even file fraudulent tax returns under your
name, or find themselves a job similarly.
8. They may get themselves identification like a driver’s
license under your name, and issued with their picture.
9. Worse still, if they happen to get arrested, they could very
easily give your name to the police, so that a warrant for arrest
is issued in your name, if they do not attend court on the stipulated
date.
