Information On The Blackworm Virus

Every now and then a new virus makes its triumphal appearance in the World Wide Web. Such is the case of the black worm virus. Although it really is an internet worm, it is still considered a virus due to the damage it can cause to your data.
So, the question is, how can you protect yourself from the blackworm virus? In order to do so, let's find first what an internet worm is.

What Is An Internet Worm?

Also known as a computer worm, it is a piece of software created with the sole intention of consuming network bandwidth. That way it compromises the operations of any organization.

Although the idea of computer worms has existed for decades, it wasn't until the arrival of the Internet that they become popular in the mainstream media. One of the first popular worms was Morris. It was created by a student at Cornell University, who used a friend's email account for spreading it.

After some hours, it had already infected thousands of computers and caused major disruptions among hundreds of organizations. Luckily, this piece of malware wasn't adequately coded, so it didn't spread further. When the responsible was detected, he was punished for his crimes.

History Of The Blackworm Virus

The blackworm virus origins go back to the year 2006, when thousands of computers around the world became infected by this malware. As a consequence, thousands of archives were ruined or destroyed by the worm, affecting the operations of organizations around the world.

Thankfully, many computer security companies became aware of this virus, so they alerted their clients about the incoming potential security risk. Those users who updated their antivirus were safe. Unfortunately, thousands didn't take the time or the effort to make the software actualizations; thus, they suffered the consequences.

How Does Blackworm Virus Attack A Computer?

The blackworm virus uses a simple technique for spreading itself: electronic mails. Although personal computers have existed for several decades, and the internet has existed for more than ten years, there are millions of people who still haven't exploited the potential of the World Wide Web.

That's why so many people fall under the tricks of virus, worms, Trojans and other types of malware. When they receive an email from a friend, they don't even imagine that it actually is an email sent by the worm. When they open it, it is too late. The black worm virus has infected their computer.

Fortunately, there is a lot of information on the blackworm virus. Since it has already attacked its targets almost a year ago, computer security companies have been able to study how does it work and take adequate actions.
